The Inner Moogle - Wrath Edition

I had some musings about Raiding as a Warrior and synergies with other warriors that I posted on my guild forum .. I paste here for your perusal as well ...

------------------

As mentioned to Kal a loooong time ago just before dual-specs came out, I was going to take a look at Arms spec DPS and try to work it out. At that time I was raiding as fury.

ARMS:

Stays primarily in Battle Stance.

Advantages:
Battle Stance: A balanced combat stance that increases the armor penetration of all of your attacks by 10%.

Raid Buffs
Blood Frenzy - Increases your attack speed by 6%. In addition your Rend and Deep Wounds abilities also increase all physical damage caused to that target by 4%. DOES NOT STACK WITH ROGUE'S SAVAGE COMBAT

Thunderclap: Ability to use Thunderclap in Battle Stance. If the target is not being tanked by a Prot Warrior, using Thunderclap will help slow the target's speed + damage

Shattering Throw: Ability to use Shattering Throw in Battle Stance.
Throws your weapon at the enemy causing [12 + AP * 0.50] damage (based on attack power), reducing the armor on the target by 20% for 10 sec or removing any invulnerabilities.

Disadvantages
Apart from Bladestorm, most of it's damage is single target (but its hella good - overpower / sudden death)
DPS is dependent on Proc / debuff watching. Bleeds via Crits / Rend must be kept up on the target, Using Sudden Death / Overpower when they proc from a bleed, or using Slam (1.0s cast with talents).
The problem I had with this initially was that I was too busy watching for procs and hence reduces game vision.
Mobility is also a slight issue given that Slam isn't instant and Juggernaut Charge has a CD.

However, these issues are solved with a good UI layout.

Cannot interrupt spells (unless equip a shield for shield bash or change to berserker and pummel)

Questions I have about this spec / things to experiment with / research EJ:
When the target gets below 20%, Execute is available. The question is whether it's more DPS to switch to Berserker and Execute spam, or continue the same rotations (given rend / overpower would no longer be available)

FURY

Stays primarily in Berserker Stance

Advantages:
Berserker Stance: An aggressive stance. Critical hit chance is increased by 3% and all damage taken is increased by 5%.

Raid Buffs
Rampage - Your melee critical hits cause you to go on a rampage, increasing ranged and melee critical hit chance of all party and raid members within 45 yds by 5%. Lasts 10 sec.

Pummel - interrupt spells

AoE damage - Whirlwind + Cleave (glyphed) alternative to Heroic Strike

Mobility - All abilities are instant cast as well as slight self-healing (Bloodthirst), although Slam is Proc watched for the instant

Disadvantages
Damage is less compared to Arms with similar gear. (Although apparently Fury is meant to ramp up again with the better gear)

Although 2x2H is awesome looking, other 2H wielding will call you a l00twh0re

Cannot use Shattering Blow / Thunderclap without changing to Battle Stance (hence loss of Rage)

Questions I have about this spec / things to experiment with / research EJ:
None that I can think of at the moment.

SUMMARY

Now, all of the above can be summarised with TLDR (Too Long, Didn't Read)

The important point (which is why I put this in Raid Discussion) is that the specs each bring something unique to the Raid that makes it worthwhile to look at (kinda similar to how each pally has a separate blessing / aura)

Tied into this is Warrior Synergy (which Pudsy and I have been meaning to chat about) which is tied to each of the buffs / debuffs

Blood Frenzy (Arms) - on Target - affects all Physical. Automatic. Just needs bleeds <-- No thought required

Rampage (Fury) - Raid Buff - Automatic. <-- No thought required

Thunderclap (Improved for Prot) - If Prot Warrior tank, No thought required. If non-Prot Warrior tank, Arms Warrior should be adding this to their rotation

Demoralising Shout - Target Debuff <-- Discussion required. DPS warrior should invest 1-5 points to add debuff to Boss AP. Previous Level 70 consensus was that 2 points were enough, however, Level 80 theorycrafting might require 5 points. The problem I see is that it would affect rage generation because Unbridled Wrath might be the talent that is sacrificed

Sunder Armor - Target Debuff - If Prot Warrior tank, No thought required. If non-Prot Warrior tank, DPS warrior should be adding this to their rotation

Shattering Throw - Target Debuff - STACKS with each other AND sunder armor - Discussion required. Should we all do this at the same time when sunder stacks are at 5? When Blood Lust is activated?

This is probably micromanaging too much, but I know I use GCDs on the above stuff .. which is why I ended up coordinating with Pudsy whether he needed me to drop anything for him to save him a GCD.
In the end, he saved me a GCD by having TC, and I saved him one with Demo shout. (Of course this all disappeared when Pixal was MTing .. but then the DPS warriors could have coordinated).

From a Warrior team, we should assign these .. and I think we'd see a small increase in DPS across the board for Warriors.

lol, twink my char. I like it

My horde shaman has officially transferred to Nagrand, although I haven't been able to log in to check yet.

I bought a bunch of relatively cheap twink gear from the AH. I think Destromath had better prices than Nagrand from what I've seen. I can start doing runs through SFK for gear on Wednesday (for the rogues which are around level 10).

Ran into a double rogue team three times which we worked out how to beat and scraped over.

I think it must be due to splashing 1k arena points on the throwing knife.
    hahaha

Bought the chest and its all good now.

Silly thing was I played 5s the next day and we easily surpassed 1600 .. (sigh)

            Oh der ...

            Tip of the day ..

Remember to level up your 2H weapon skills by the time you reach 80
(I was primarily levelling up and Tanking as Prot)

            The reason?

We attempted a raid last night in Naxxramas (10) and on the last boss were were attempting, we needed more DPS,
So I respecced to Fury Titan's Grip.
Fight starts .. I'm getting no rage whatsoever .. I look at the DPS meters and I'm below the healers.
It wasn't until I noticed the ticking up of my weapon skills that it dawned that I still had 350 weapon skill and was just giving Loatheb a back scratch ... EPIC FAIL.

Lucky my buffs still helped the Raid, but really .. made the fight a lot harder that it should have been ....
