High Overlord Saurfang yells: Reavers, Sergeants, attack!
Muradin Bronzebeard yells: What's this then?! Ye won't be takin' this son o' Ironforge's vessel without a fight!.

It's been a year or so since our Jenolan Caves excursion and I reckon it's time for a new guild adventure.

The idea currently being tossed around is that of a weekend houseboat trip.

What do you get to do?

  • Boating
  • Swimming
  • Fishing
  • Drinking
  • Eating
  • Kayaking
  • Chillaxing

Some of the location options are:

  • Hawkesbury River (closest, most expensive, oldest boats)
  • Shoalhaven
  • Lake Macquarie
  • Murray River (9-hour drive away, cheapest, most awesome boats)

I like the idea of Lake Macquarie - it's not far and it's reasonably priced.

A non-scientific study of ANBers at lunch today came to the conclusion that some ANBers would be willing to take one day off work to make it a long weekend, and some want a longer trip for more excitement.

Hence, my proposed option:

  • Lake Macquarie or Hawkesbury
  • Something like this - http://www.lakemacboathire.com.au/elite.htm
  • Late February (I'm going to AtlasCamp in March, after that it would get cold, and any sooner would be hard to organise)
  • Two boats:
    • Early boat - Wednesday-Thursday-Friday-Saturday-Sunday
    • Late boat - Friday-Saturday-Sunday
  • Costs:
    • ~$2300 for boat (12 people) - will probably be more if we have two boats
    • Fuel for motor (I'd guess about $25/running hour)
    • Food
    • Alcohol
    • Hiring costs for kayaks or surfskis or whatever

Muradin Bronzebeard yells: Don't say I didn't warn ya, scoundrels! Onward, brothers and sisters!

If you want to go for a weekend or longer than a weekend, please indicate on the table below.  It's likely that we will have too many for one boat and may split it in to two groups, one group of awesome people who get there during the week, and one group of noobs that arrive on the friday.

For those wondering, Valentine's day lands on a Tuesday this year.

Hawkesbury is still an option; I think there'll be more to do there, but it may be more cut-throat to find moorings each night.

I can go any time, would prefer mid week.

Tropfest is on the 19th of Feb, so if we do it then, I may not be able to make it.

    What does early/late boat mean?

    1. Jan 17, 2012

It refers to the paragraph that Furgs added above the table:

If you want to go for a weekend or longer than a weekend, please indicate on the table below.  Its likely that we will have too many for one boat and may split it in to two groups, one group of awesome people who get there during the week, and one group of noobs that arrive on the friday.

    We won't be houseboating.
