Massive mechanics on BP but just need to sort as you say. I was utterly confused the first couple times as hoard on how to do that one and still mostly confused.
If I read that right range dps needs to "bring" those (one) purple balls to the tank and have the tank hit them to grant the 35% less shadow damage.
I made a mistake grabbing like 4 and running around.

Actually, in regards to Valithria, I don't believe there can be a 'convincing' win, due to the mechanics. There's no '10%' enrage to heal/damage through, there's no race to climax, there's no point where Heroism/Bloodlust will actually help.
You can either win or lose, and not with a bang, but with a whimper =)

There's a soft enrage when you hit the point where mages and skeletons are streaming in too fast to kill, apparently starting at the seven minute mark. That's what killed us the first time.
The impression that I was getting near the end of our successful attempt was that we'd lost control over the adds. I think we'd lost our rhythm and weren't getting them down as smartly as we should. It felt like we'd only scraped the win in by seconds, even though WoL says we were only 5'30 into the fight.

hm, that would be more a healing issue then if we were tending towards the soft enrage. Damn you healers, hps faster! =)
I feel so useless as a disc priest on that encounter.
(not so useless to respec though =))

Actually there is a big point where Heroism will help but it is the healers call not dps. Assuming you have a holy pally going in to dream stake every time and prob another healer then after the 3rd timeas soon as they come out pop Heroism, pally pops wings and then does LoH, and spams the crap out of holy light. At this stage with the healing buff stack a pally can be healing for 100,000k+ a second while Heroism is up. A pally should always beacon Valithria and then just stand close to her and spam holy light on themselves non stop only stopping to go in to dream state. The ads can actually be solo tanked if dps burn mages quickly enough.
The whole encounter seems to be designed around a holy paladin
