Woulda, gouda, shoulda, ... Well nobody said Sindragosa was going to be a brie-ze. We were a little blue after 9 unsuccessful tries at Sindy last night. Things got off to a bad start when lolz wiped the group on trash, then pulled aggro on Sindy and be-camembert to survive. It turned into a bit of a demolition derby after that as Sindy creamed us.
We did get to phase 3 pretty consistently though, which is awesome since this is not an easy fight. Well done all, particularly the people new to the fight this week.
A final thanks to pally power/power auras, without which none of our attempts would have been possible.
P.S. Wensleydale is a delicious cheese.

This will be a fresh run. |
Based on feedback of our first attempt, what worked well and what didn't here is a strategy that we could try next week.
Phase 1:
![]()
- Green - Tank, Blue - Sindy, Purple - DPS/HEALS
- Turning sindy on her side like this should get the raid closer to the stairs, we can then try the stair as the location for the frost tombs.
- We can be a little more relaxed when it comes to the Instability debuff and let it get to 5 stacks before we let it expire. This will allow for some more casting of heals and dps.
- Melee (and hunters and tanks) need to be much more careful with the Chilled to the Bone debuff as it did way too much damage (See: http://worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-d8kqcdm4bzt7d9n1/spell/70106/).
Phase 2:
![]()
- Purple - Non-frozen raid, Skull/Cross - Tombs
- Putting the tombs on the stairs makes it easier to LOS the bombs as the will be generally on the otherside from your starting spot.
- We need to be better at getting LOS from the bomb locations, hopefully using the stairs will help with this. The tombs go down reasonably fast but so do we if we are in the wrong spot. First Priority is to get LOS, then DPS. (See: http://worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-d8kqcdm4bzt7d9n1/spell/70106/)
- We need to get better at being at range from the tombs so we only get the two tombs up each time. This is more of an organisational problem than an individual one and the new location is meant to help with this.
Phase 3:
![]()
- Same positioning (mostly) with phase one, Green - Tank, Blue - Sindy, Purple - DPS/HEALS, Black - Tomb locations
- Purple - a,c raid expending debuf, b raid neutral position
- Black - 1 tomb location 1, 2 tomb location 2
- During this phase its very important that all DPS/Heals group up tightly so the tomb can be placed without swallowing anyone else up. GULP.
- When a Tomb comes up:
- Place it at the unoccupied tomb location, alternating between 1 and 2
- DPS will always move to the purple position to remove their stacks. Once they have dropped and the tomb is down they can move back to the neutral position before DPS again on the boss. Healers will alternate dropping their stacks, the other healer(s) will stay in the neutral position.
- Normally the Tomb will be DPS'd as soon as all DPS have dropped their stack, the only exception to this rule is if the current tank wants to drop their stacks. If this happens DPS will stay in the a or c position and wait for the tank to move, drop their stack and then will dps the tomb down.
Power Aura setup for casters
I figured I'd put up the power auras I use for this encounter.
It consists of three auras, first, Unchained Magic. This aura has a countdown so I can see how many seconds are left on the main buff:

Second, the actual Instability stacks. This is placed on top of the active UM aura, so I can see when I'm gaining stacks, and how many:

and together:

And finally for phase 3, the Mystic Buffet, with both stacks and countdown. I'm not too sure how useful the countdown is, so I'll have to play around with it a bit:

As a dps caster, I found it invaluable to know just when Unchained Magic would fall off, so I could stack Instability until 2 seconds out or so, then Disperse to mitigate the full damage.
My new hobby: reading YouTube's machine transcription of our raid videos.
It doesn't work for all of them (the music on the later ones confuses it, I think), but for the ones it does support, you can click on the little red "CC" icon, "Transcribe Audio", then "OK".

Now that we are getting close to an attempt on the Lich King, people have come out of the wood work to join the team. This has left the team overflowing. This is both good and bad.
The Monday lock has these bosses still to go:
- Rotface
- Professor Putricide
- Sindragosa
- The Lich King
I suspect it will take:
- Rotface/Putricide - 1 raid night
- Sindragosa - 2 raid nights
- The Lich King - 2+ raid nights
We are coming up against some of the hardest bosses in the game and we need some team continuity.
This is the team that will be fixed until the Lich King is down (for Monday nights):

I'm sorry if you wanted a spot in the raid but only got a reserve spot, this team is based on the past availability of each player. Everyone wants to play, and unfortunately we don't all fit.
- Thursday raids will continue as usual, but if you want to be a reserve for Monday, don't go and get locked on the Thursday. I know this is a big ask as it means you cannot raid ICC10 at all because you will end up getting locked.
- There will be spots available but they will be selected on the night depending who is there.
- If you are in the team above and don't want to commit to the next 5-6 weeks of raiding, let me know and you can become a reserve.
Let me know or update the table.
This week sit outs or not available:

Happy birthday Kittyfoot! (Thanks for the heads up Boo)
Cataclysm should be out by the end of the year, so we'll see you again then ![]()

Oh yes, there are plenty more bacon puns where that came from.
We motored our way through the first wing of ICC again last night, pit stopped at Festergut for some loot and finished up with a few tries on Rotface (last try, so close!).
Luke(Thatrayna) and Paul(Mehemet) have both spoken to me in person about setting up a progression team. To help communicate that idea to the rest of us I am going to write up some notes here for comment.
Why?
Why do this? We have to RAID teams already and tend to struggle for numbers on the second night as it is. How is another team going to help?
The feeling is:
- We aren't progressing fast enough
- We want to raid with our main's more
- We want team consistency
- We want a more focused team, a team that is committed to the two nights a week
This isn't a "better" team, its just a two night a week team.
This isn't a different "progression" team, its just a two night a week team.
This isn't an "elite player" team, just a two night a week team.
Again?
Haven't we tried this before? Wasn't there a progression team setup in the past? Didn't it fail because no one signed up?
To get around this, the idea is to recruit inside the guild first, then from outside the guild to fill the numbers.
How does this differ from our current "progression" runs?
Not much, its just the same team two nights a week and with a little bit more commitement about making that team so we can be closer to the same team each week.
The Proposal
- Form a 10 man team that raids two nights a week. Its been suggested that it might be Thursday/Sunday.
- Recruit extra people to fill up the team.
- Kill the Lich King and his Possee.
My Views
I like the idea of creating a team with a bit more focus but not at the cost of raiding with my friends. If this team was created it will probably force our other team(s) back down to just Monday nights. So I would be worried about how it would effect our team bacon/cheese rotations. I wouldnt join if it left those teams short or if the nights conflicted.
Outstanding Questions
- How do we recruit publicly without being lame?
- How do we do this without losing the close knit feel of the guild?
- Do you like the smell of shit?
Please leave commments/questions/expressions of interest etc.
