Buffing as a Paladin
Two or more Paladins in Group
- Be the first to say "I'll Kings everyone, you do might or wisdom"
- If you're the tank, Sanct yourself and berate the might/wisdom guy for not giving you Kings
- If you're DPS, hope nobody mentions that you should be doing might instead of Kings because of Improved Blessing of Might
One Paladin in Group
- Kings all caster dps
- Kings the tank (or if it's you, Sanct)
- Might melee dps and hunter
- Unless there's a dps warrior in the group, in which case go kings
- Explain to the guy complaining he doesn't have might that there's a warrior in the group and might doesn't stack with Battle Shout
- Notice the warrior has already popped Commanding Shout, sigh and go back to might
- Look at shaman/druid dps' mana to guess whether they're melee or caster. If in doubt, kings.
- Check the healer's gearscore. If it's under 4000, give them wisdom. If it's over give them kings because they're not going to have mana problems in a 5-man anyway.
- Ignore the possible presence of a Mana Spring totem because you don't know what shamans might drop from one minute to the next. It's too late to ask anyway, as the tank has started pulling.
- Realise the healer was a druid too and you've just given Wisdom to the feral dps. Kings the druids mid-pull.
- Get sidetracked during the first trash group explaining to hunter that might is mathematically better for their dps than kings. No, really.
- Give up and kings hunter anyway
One Paladin in Group (Alternative method)
- Kings everyone except self
- Might/Wis/Sanct/Kings self as appropriate
- Ignore anyone who complains
- No really. Even that Death Knight who won't shut up about it all the way up to the first boss
- Put Blessing of Wisdom on the DK
- Stop healing him
- Get votekicked
Buffing as a Priest
If anyone's using ThreatGraph, there's a new version up at:
https://labs.atlassian.com/source/browse/~tarball=zip/WOW/trunk/wow-addons/ThreatGraph/ThreatGraph.zip (requires a Crowd login, I think)
This version preserves threat history for multiple mobs, so when you switch targets you don't lose the history.
I kicked Skanc from the guild for irredeemable lameness.
(I mean seriously, "asl?" Is this a guild, or is it an early 90s AOL chatroom?)
I've been asked to give a little more detail, so here goes.
For the second time in a couple of days, Donna calls me over ands says "Hey, that sleazy guy in our guild is drunk-messaging me again." Now I'm not too worried, Donna is more than capable of taking care of herself, but looking over her shoulder at the conversation I come to the conclusion that this is someone with whom I would rather not share a guild.
So I gkicked.
Maybe it's a decade or two of running IRC channels, but That Guy Who Messages Anyone With A Female-Sounding Name is an Internet archetype, and one that has never led to anything but annoyance in pretty much every forum I've encountered them.
New Guild ranks to help organise the new recruits.
Main One per person, can invite/remove, can promote (up to Alt), unlimited bank access.
Alt For all non mains for members, can't invite/remove, can't promote, unlimited bank access.
Friend For new members who are known to other members. Limited bank access.
New New members that people don't know outside the game. No bank access.
This is the story of an achievement.

Recipe for maxing out your unarmed skill as a healer:
- Put on your mana regeneration gear
- Unequip your weapon
- Find mob that will hit you for less damage than you can heal indefinitely
- Wail on mob with fists
My chosen victim was a Tundra Wolf from Borean Tundra. He had over 6k health, and with the impressive DPS my gear was offering me (reduced further by the fact I was going to miss a lot to start with), I was sure that would be more than enough to get me from my meagre 70 unarmed skill all the way to 400.
My heal of choice was Power Word: Shield. The shield could absorb more damage in its 30 second duration than the wolf was capable of inflicting on me, my Glyph of Power Word: Shield would mop up anything I missed, and I'd have the mana back within a couple of seconds of casting.

By the time my skill was up to 385 (a gain of 315 points), I had the wolf down to 80% health. That's when things started slowing down and the skill points became fewer and farther between. It became a challenge to max my unarmed skill before this wolf died, man verses uncaring random number generator. However, the wolf had at least 20% of its health left when I hit 399. "Great!", I thought. "One point to go, should be done any second now!"
Yeah right.
Down went the wolf's health, slowly and steadily. I imagined the '6' key on my keyboard, bound to PW:S, wearing down to a nub from overuse. I started wondering if there was some dastardly if statement deep in the World of Warcraft codebase that refused to maximise your weapon skill on the same mob that granted you the penultimate point. Then, when all hope was lost...
Fuck yeah.
I feel sorry for the wolf, who with my impressive overall 3dps had to endure being punched non-stop for around 38 minutes before I finally put it out of its misery. In that time, 38 Power Word: Shields were cast, along with 7 Renews to mop up the damage I took while I was making breakfast or doing laundry.
And people say this game is just pointless grinding!
I've decided to take a break for a while and review when I get back from Japan.
The Casual Raid Organiser - 29.03.2010 through 05.04.2010 will have to be re-evaluated as I'll be on hiatus until at least the 5th of April.
This is not related to my late bail of the run tonight. That was something that I felt needed my attention.
To assist me with this; I've had my authenticator hidden by a third party until I return.
I've placed my filthy lucre, which amounts to 3,000 gold; in to the guild bank. Do with it what you will, as acquiring gold became all to easy in the last two weeks.
After finding the biggest challenge of the weekly quest to be working out who wasn't tanking or healing, we decided not to go on with Ulduar because with a couple of late withdrawals we didn't quite have the roster to pull it off. Instead we ended up in Trial of the Crusader, but I suspect our hearts weren't in it. Maybe not the most fun raid monday of all time, but we downed some bosses, got some emblems, and gave some of the newer players chances to grab level 232 gear.
This week's raid quest is as yet unannounced. Also, as discussed on the night, this might be the right time to move raid nights to Thursdays. I shall leave the details up to Moonburn.

A student up at the Queensland University of Technology is doing a thesis on "A qualitative study of Massively-Multiplayer Online Game based social relationships".
I know a lecturer up there, so I'll be participating and they are also looking for others.
More details: "The purpose of this project is to examine the social relationships that players of Massively-Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs) have with each other. The research team requests your assistance because as a player of the successful MMOG “World of Warcraft” you can provide us with your experiences of these relationships."
There's a questionnaire and a 45-60 minute interview (can be done via phone – hey, should really be via vent, eh?!) and I believe there's a token of appreciate in return (something about a Frost Emblem or Gift Card, can't remember which).
If you're interested, see the details in the attachment and contact the guy (or ping me).
Just a quick post. There's been a fair bit of confusion over loot and roles for lolz, so I thought I'd help make things simpler.
I'm making lolz's main spec heals again. Since we no longer have a progression group, there's no real need for me to tank in our raids. I enjoy both healing and tanking, so I don't mind which one I do. However, having a foot in both camps is confusing for me and for the rest of the raid group.
I haven't decided whether to drop my tanking spec yet. I may keep it for fun (e.g. running lowbie dungeons) and for ease of pugging heroics, but I'm also thinking of using my offspec to try a boomkin build. But for simplicity, please sign me up for future raids as a healer.
Your friendly neighbourhood tree,
lolz
After two close fights, we downed Hodir on the third attempt with everyone in the raid earning the I have the Coolest Friends (10 player) achievement.
Freya proved to be one scary large woman; giving Jaina a run for her money.
This week's raid quest is [Noth the Plaguebringer Must Die!].

Moonburn (Pete de Zwart) will be away in Japan from 29/03/2010 - 05/04/2010 and will not be able to organise the casual runs during that time.
If you would like to take on the exciting role of organiser for that period, add a comment to this blog post.
Ladies & Gentlemen,
I've opened up for voting the night on which the casual raids are organised.
| Where to vote: |
I'll be closing of voting after a week, so the 15/03/2010.
For the interim, the casual nights will remain on Monday.
The announcement that in the next patch you will be able to trade Frozen Orbs for useful things like Frost Lotus and higher-level orbs has increased the number of orb ninjas by an order of magnitude.
I've started hitting this macro just before the last boss in heroic pugs.

It was a smooth run, where we steamrolled our way through Ignis the Furnace Master, XT-002 Deconstructor, Kologarn & Auriaya to face Hodir; who was a bad toy.
This week's raid quest is [Anub'Rekhan Must Die!], which we should be able to faceroll; even with our alts.
A vote has been added to the proposed run page for 20100308, please add your vote and comments.
