Can Kittyfoot (L74) come if she uses a +10 Fishing Rod?

    No? Darn!

    1. Sep 21, 2009

We'd love Kitty to come along when she hits 80. Most raid bosses need two tanks and I have doubts over whether Trunkun is still playing.

Oh that reminds me, Boo, do you know if Antonszandor wants to come along? He hasn't been on much lately either.

Sorry guys, I can't make it on Monday now. Have a church event on.

Please feel free to pug someone to replace me or run some heroics instead.

      1. Sep 27, 2009

I think I've probably hit the -DKP limit already with the penalties that Matt always dishes out.

I might be on later, but you guys go ahead if you get the numbers. Naxx is huge, so there will be plenty more to do next week.

After our recent spate of bad PUGs, may I suggest that we keep this Naxx raid to guild members only to reduce frustration.

    1. Sep 27, 2009

Based on who usually turns up for our Monday night runs, we are lucky we will have 7 people turn up from the list. We will need to pug the last three, which, in our current state, will require at least one healer and one off tank. We really need to get some people from the DPS list into tanks and/or healers.

      Would be nice for:

      • Lolzcat to get a tanking set together
      • Carlfish to get a tanking or healing set together
      • Deadheart to get a tanking set together
      • Kittyfoot to get to 80 so he can get a healing set together
      • Trunkun to get a healing set together

That could result in another 3 healers or tanks. Its going to be a lot easier (and safer) for us to pug DPS. The impact of a bad pug healer or tank is a lot worse than a bad pug DPS. Usually.

I totally agree with Moonburn in that I'd prefer not to pug. However, unless by some miracle everyone turns up for a run, we will always be short. Naxx can be done with less people, but unfortunately we are not geared for it yet.

I have started collecting a tanking set for lolz, but as lolz is our only other healer option (not counting Zunuz here as we need Furgin to tank), I think that the more ideal situation would be for someone else to become a tank. Luke has a tank (Rawm), but his healer (Thatrayna) is much more uber. The best options in my opinion are (in order of preference):

        1. Kitty to get to 80 — already experienced with tanking and actually likes it (this is not always the case!).
        2. Deadheart and/or Charles to build a tanking set.
        3. Trunkun to log on! He's already got some starting tanking gear and has tanked before in Outlands, but he doesn't seem to play much anymore.
        4. Charles or Kitty to build a healing set.

Normally you would take 2 tanks, 3 heals and 5 dps to a 10-man raid, but Thatrayna is so overgeared for Naxx that he can probably cover two healers, so we don't really need a third healer for now.

Kitty hit L75 on the weekend (and I got training!!). However, she won't get to 80 anytime soon.

I do realise that PUGs are a necessity of WoW. My apologies for putting forward the position that I am totally against PUGs.

I was hoping beyond hope that we could keep Naxx inhouse, but I suspect that would not be feasible given our guild size and composition.

PUG'ing DPS has been much safer than (and more abundant) than tank or healing.

If I have offended any guildies, I apologise, that is not my intention.

          1. Sep 28, 2009

Definitely no offence taken by me. I'm with you here — I'd much rather prefer to have a raid full of guildies (smile)

      2. Sep 28, 2009

I'd much rather PUG DPS than heals or tanks, for obvious reasons.

I'd be happy to (short term) put together a tanking set for Carlfish and (long term) level my priest, which would give me more chance to learn how to heal before anyone important depended on it. I'd not even know where to start healing as a holy pally. That said I've never tanked before either. Learning curve for the lose.

Does anyone have a good guide that can suggest how I should try and get heirloom items to help level Kitty?

I'm confused with all these Emblems, Seals, etc – from Wintersgrasp, Dailies and Argent Tournament. Should I put the time into Anasta earning these things to buy heirlooms for Kitty to level faster, or should I just grind with Kitty (who has Rested XP anyway)?

    1. Sep 28, 2009

Basically, the only two bind-on-account heirloom items that you can get which grant an XP bonus are:

      • heirloom shoulders — purchased with 200 stonekeeper's shards from the vendor inside Wintegrasp (alliance must hold WG for you to access this vendor). The vendor is located in the courtyard on the left side of the stair (when you are looking down the stairs). He has many flavours of shoulders (including chocolate!... not) but they all give a +10% xp buff. You get shards from doing the quests in WG and from dungeon bosses when alliance hold WG.
      • heirloom chestpiece — purchased with either 40 x Emblem of Heroism or 60 x Champion's Seal, from a vendor in the Argent Tournament grounds. I'm not sure where the vendor is, as I haven't purchased this myself. Similar to the shoulders, there are cloth, leather, mail and plate variants but all give a 10% xp bonus. You get champion's seals from doing the new Trial of the Champion instance or the daily quests in the Argent Tournament. You can trade emblems of valor/conquest down to emblems of heroism.

Both the xp bonuses stack with each other and with rested xp, so it's definitely worth getting them if you can afford them. I used the shoulders when levelling lolz (chest wasn't available until 3.2) and it's noticeable. It's up to you whether you want to grind with anasta to get the shards/emblems/seals for these items. In the short term I'm guessing it would be just faster to level with kitty. However, the items are bind on account so you could re-use them with any alts. They are also pretty good quality items for the level, at least equivalent to blues.

Take a look at the post I did a while back on the end game as it covers some of this. It's focused on PvE end game, not PvP which is what the wintersgrasp stuff is focusing on.
