    Can You Make It?

    Unknown macro: {rsvp}
If you cannot make it, please let us know so we can sub someone else in or PUG an extra.

What do I need to do beforehand?

  • Get a nearby flight path — Zul'Gurub is in Stranglethorn Vale, so it's probably easiest to head to Stormwind and fly to the Rebel Camp flight point.
  • Check out the WoW Knowledge Base page. It contains a bunch of play tips that will be useful on our runs.
  • Please make sure you are ready to start at 9:00pm.
  • Repair your gear, clear your bags and stock up on food/water/potions beforehand.
  • Make sure your Ventrilo is working (settings in guild info tab).

Could we please not have high-level (eg L70) characters with us? It sort of ruins the fun, and this is the first time that Boorunn and I have been in these instances. I'd rather struggle and fail than have an easy run. Thanks for understanding.

Although I do understand I'd like to point out that having a level 70 in one of these raids really doesn't make that much difference. There will be 7 other people and one person a little higher doesn't affect our other involvement THAT much. It makes much more of a difference when we are doing 5 man raids.

The other thing to think about is, we are doing a 20 man raid, if we do it with all the same level we need to get another 12 people which simple isn't going to happen. You will be exposed to the dark side of raiding, waiting for 2 hours at the meeting stone, finally all getting in, 6 people log off, someone DC's, then FINALLY when everyone is ready someone does a Leeroy.

Yet another thing to think about is how long they take. I really don't want to be spending 6 hours of a Thursday night fighting through trash only to fail multiple times on the only boss.

We can do both, we can do raids with high levels to make our thursday go a little smoother, if you want to organise a larger raid than feel free in doing so (I'd be in) but I suspect you will have a lot of trouble filling the numbers.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should bring a level 70 tonight, I'm just saying why we do it sometimes.

Good points. I like the idea that we don't bring level 70s on our 5-man dungeon runs, we should never struggle to get a 5-man group going now.

For larger raids (10-man, 20-man), I think it's reasonable for someone to bring a 70, especially if we are struggling for numbers. It does make it easier, but as Matt commented, it doesn't destroy the group dynamic.

Just a reminder that we will be switching to 5-mans from next week. These big 10 and 20 man raids are like special party events in our raiding calendar (smile) Let's keep it casual.

If it was anything more than a noob huntard I would suggest they had more impact. But hey.. look who's behind the wheel.

          It's only Pete!!

Please note, ZG is a 20-man level 60 instance (as opposed to UBRS which is 10-man). We'll need to recruit quite a few PUGs to run it, if we don't bring 70s.

I do think that Moonburn was a big reason why we smashed UBRS so easily last week (although I'm pretty sure we still can clear it, if gnull plays instead).

I'm not advocating that we should bring 70s, but if we can't recruit enough extras we may want to fall back to another UBRS run. We can give ZG a try first and see how we go.

Oh, okay. If we're not strong enough (or there's not enough of us), I can see that we'll need some 70s along. Thanks for the explanations!

We also need to cover Andrew's noobness.

Noobness? You mean uberness right (did you see my t-shirt today)?
